<h2>4th of July weekend at Mono Lake</h2><p>We are heading up to Mono Lake on July 3rd and returning home on July 5th. Some of us will be there on the 2nd to take in as much as we can. This is a must do field trip filled with fabulous photographic opportunities. Visit Leevining.com for a list of local Hotels and Campground but act quickly as there is limited space left.</p><h3>Agenda:</h3><p style="margin-left:.5in;">Friday July 3rd : 10 AM - Breakfast at Nicely’s Restaurant<br />Highway 395 at Fourth Street<br />Lee Vining, CA 93541</p><p>At this time we will be discussing our Agenda for the weekend.</p><p>There are several things to do in the area during the day, which are more photogenic than the lake and Tufa’s. A trip to Bodie State Park may be in order (This is a great Infrared location), or Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite National Park. Maybe a trip to June Lake, which will be cool in temperature and surrounded by pine trees, or perhaps to Devil’s Postpile (about an hour south of Lee Vining). We will decide as a group. </p><p>There is no hurry to get our day started, as many of our members will be coming in late the night before, or even later this morning. This is good for us as Mono Lake is not known for being a sunrise location (Unlike…say the Teton’s where is should be a criminal offence to miss sunrise). There will be mostly a full-moon during our evening shoots, which will mostly be in the south Tufa area of Mono Lake. Mono Lake, the Tufa’s and Lee Vining are all within a small area, and we should be able to talk to each other on our FMRS radios (Channel 2.8) most of the time. </p><h3>Sat July 4th:</h3><p>5:00 PM – Group Dinner<br />Harriet Smith’s Campsite #40<br />Mono Vista RV Park<br />57 Beaver Lane<br />Lee Vining, CA 93541</p><p>The group dinner will be an All American Hot Dog (Kosher All Beef Hot Gourmet Dogs) Dinner. All you need to bring is you, a chair, and your beverage of choice. We are having dinner at this time so we can have a decent amount of time get to know one another and digest a little before the sunset shoot. </p><h3>Sun July 5th:</h3><p>Most will try to get in that last little bit of shooting before heading home, hopefully with lifelong memories and at least a few great images too. </p><h3>Info:</h3><p>Ed and Linda will be staying at Muphey’s Motel, Lee Vining California. Ed’s cell phone number is 702-271-5011. All camera club members are welcome to join us on this adventure. If you are planning on coming to this field trip and have not yet made reservations, for either camping or motel-ing…please call amenities in the Lee Vining area ASAP as this weekend is likely to be sold out (<a href="http://www.leevining.com">www.leevining.com</a>).</p><h3>Just a reminder:</h3><p>We are traveling to an area with a diverse climate, it may be very hot during the day and what seems to be freezing overnight (especially at the higher elevations). For example today’s (June 22nd) high was 90 degrees in Lee Vining and the low was 49 degrees in Tuolumne Meadows. So…layered clothing is key. Also on this note please be sure you have water in your vehicle at all times. Other items on the must list are: Sunscreen, hats (with brims), flashlights, a chair (we may be spending long periods of time in one location). In the camera department you should pack: Tri-pods, shutter release cables, extra batteries (night time shots, in the cooler temps will eat batteries alive), wide angel lenses, IR (Infrared Camera’s) for those daytime shots. If you have any questions please feel free to give me a call.</p>
