FIELD TRIP - SATURDAY, JUNE 20TH

EARLY MORNING SHOOT

Early mornings are the ideal times to photograph the strip so let’s take advantage of the fact that everyone comes to Vegas and parties into the night so they sleep in. We will meet at 5:00 AM in front of the Bellagio Fountain on Las Vegas Blvd at the North End. There won’t be many people so I will be easy to find.

Bring your camera, wide angle lens and/or 70-200, tripod, polarizer, extra batteries and cards, shutter release or you can use your timer for long exposures, comfortable walking shoes and a light weight bag for any accessories. Less is better – you can always come back another day.

Use your imagination and let’s have some fun. We will travel south down the strip seeing how many locations we can photograph before the light becomes too harsh. Those who prefer to stay in one place can but those looking for more of a challenge can follow me south. We may only make it a block or maybe 6 but however far we go the plan is to take some great photo’s, learn something along the way and have fun.

The reflections of The Bellagio with the still water in the foreground are amazing.

If you make an about face in the early morning hours and photograph the Paris from the farthest end of the Bellagio Lagoon it is a fabulous sight.

Inside the Bellagio shopping area is wonderful to shoot if you get in early enough.

Inside the Venetian Entrance Hall is another “not to miss shot”. If you set up a tripod here you may get asked to leave.

The Lagoon at the Venetian in the early morning provides some amazing reflections in the still water.

Different angels near the Eiffel Tower can give you a fabulous shot from the strip.

The entry to Bally’s with no one on the moving ramp is spectacular with the early morning light.

Some of you may prefer to shoot in front of the Aria and the shops at Crystals in the early morning.

There are the big Roman Statues inside the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace that can be breathtaking with no people around in the early morning.

Inside the Cosmopolitan with its modern architecture can make for some interesting shots as well.

The waterfalls in front of the Mirage can make another exquisite shot.

Meet For Brunch at 10:00 AM.

If we get separated we will meet up again for a fabulous breakfast at the Peppermill Restaurant. For those who have never had a meal there you don’t want to miss out. There dishes are large so you can split a meal with someone and still get stuffed and they are reasonably priced. If you walk to the bar, in the back, you will want to take your camera with you.

2985 Las Vegas Blvd S
Las Vegas, NV 89109
Phone: (702) 735-4177
peppermilllasvegas.com

Please Contact Harriet Smith with any questions or suggestions and to register at: Harriet@fortheloveofafrica.com or 702-401-6566 with any questions or suggestions.
