Nevada Camera Club, a non-profit photography membership organization supporting the art and technology of photography, announces Nevada Camera Club 2012 Annual Electronic Image Competition & Exhibition.
Results
Purpose
- Raise the community level of awareness of photography as an art form.
- Motivate photographers to create quality images.
- Provide photographers with an opportunity to show their work and receive recognition for artistic and technical achievement.
- Reward photographers for photographic achievement.

Eligibility
- Open to anyone of any age.
- Entries must have been photographed by the entrant.
- Images that have won a first place ribbon in a previous Nevada Camera Club Annual Electronic Image Competition or Annual Slide Competition are not eligible.
Media
- Accepted media is electronic images submitted as digital files on CD (compact disc).
Awards
- The Best of Show winner selected by the judges from the first place winning entries in all categories is awarded a $100.00 cash prize and the Best of Show ribbon.
- First place winners in each category are awarded a ribbon and a matted print of the winning entry. The first place category prints are displayed at the Whitney Library Gallery June 7 through August 7, 2012.
- Second place, third place and honorable mention winners in each category are awarded ribbons.
Categories
- There are fourteen (14) categories.
- Abstract, Animal/Pets, Commercial, Creative, Documentary, Nature, People, Pictorial, Photojournalism, Portraiture, Still Life, Travel, Unclassified, Wildlife.

- NOTE: No specific category is defined by technique. Subject matter must be the defining parameter. Care must be taken in the Documentary, Nature, Photojournalism, Travel, and Wildlife categories. Normal photographic processes may be used to enhance the image quality in these five reality based categories but must not be used to alter the truth of the photographic statement. This means not altering the factual representation.
Image Specifications
- Images may be horizontal, vertical or square.
- Horizontal Image: The width must not exceed 1024 pixels. If the height exceeds 768 pixels, the height should be re-sized to 768 pixels or less and the width should be adjusted to maintain the original aspect ratio.
- Vertical Image: The height must not exceed 768 Pixels.
- Square Image: Width and height must not exceed 768 pixels.
- PPI (Pixels Per Inch) may be any number, provided the image width does not exceed 1024 pixels and the image height does not exceed 768 pixels.
- Although there is no minimum size, it is to the advantage of each entrant to make the dimensions as large as possible without exceeding the maximum dimensions listed above.
File Format Requirements
- File format must be JPEG using .jpg as the file extension.
- Color depth must not exceed 24 bits per pixel.
Preparing the CD for Entry
- Copy all entry files to a single CD.
- Mark (label) the CD with the entrants name and phone number.
Fees
- The entry fee is $2.00 per image.
- Each entrant may submit a total of eight (8) images.
- Images which exceed the specified dimensions or do not meet the required file format or can not be read from the submitted CD are disqualified and will not be judged. No refund is made for disqualified images.

- The entry form, CD and entry fee must be submitted together.

- Submitted CDs will not be returned.
Intellectual Property Rights
- The entrant grants to the Nevada Camera Club the right to display submitted images during the multimedia presentation on June 7, 2012. The entrant also grants to the Nevada Camera Club the right to make one print of each category first place winning image and display said print during the gallery exhibition period. The print will be given to the entrant after the close of the exhibition. All other rights remain with the entrant.
Judging
- Prints are judged by a panel of three photographic judges.
- Judges have the right to re-categorize entries.
- The decision of the judges is final.
Opening Reception & Multimedia Presentation
- A reception opening the exhibition is held at the Whitney Library on Thursday, June 7, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
- A multimedia presentation of all entries is shown in the Whitney Library auditorium during the reception.
- The public is invited and admission is free.

Exhibition
- Prints made from the first place entries in each category and prints by Nevada Camera Club Photographer of the Year, Susan Webb, are exhibited at the Whitney Library beginning June 7, 2012.
- The public is invited and admission is free.
- The exhibition continues through August 7, 2012.

Receipt of Awarded Prints
- Matted prints of the first place winning images may be picked up at a Nevada Camera Club meeting after the close of the gallery exhibition.
