Purpose
- Raise the community level of awareness of photography as an art form.
- Motivate photographers to create quality images.
- Provide photographers with an opportunity to show their work and receive recognition for artistic and technical achievement.
- Reward photographers for photographic achievement.
Schedule
- October 23 and 24, 2009: Entry acceptance.
- November 16, 2009 through January 4, 2010: Exhibition Gallery Showing.
Eligibility
- Open to anyone of any age.
- Entries must have been photographed by the entrant.
- Prints that have won a first place ribbon in a previous Nevada Camera Club Annual Print Competition are not eligible.
Media
- Accepted media is monochromatic prints and color prints.
Awards
- The Best of Show winners in each of the two Divisions (monochromatic prints and color prints) are awarded a $50.00 cash prize and a Best of Show ribbon.
- First place winners in each category are awarded a ribbon.
- Second place, third place and honorable mention winners in each category are awarded ribbons.
Divisions
- There are two (2) divisions.
- Monochromatic Prints and Color Prints.
Categories
- There are fourteen (14) categories in each of the two (2) Divisions for a total of twenty-eight (28) categories.
- Abstract, Animal/Pets, Commercial, Creative, Documentary, Nature, People, Pictorial, Photojournalism, Portraiture, Still Life, Travel, Unclassified, Wildlife.

- NOTE: No specific category is defined by technique. Subject matter must be the defining parameter. Care must be taken in the Documentary, Nature, Photojournalism, Travel, and Wildlife categories. Normal photographic processes may be used to enhance the image quality in these five reality based categories but must not be used to alter the truth of the photographic statement. This means not altering the factual representation.
Print Specifications
- The long side of the print must be at least 8". Slimlines are allowed. Exceptions to this rule are allowed for contact prints (must be at least 4"x5") and Polaroid transfer prints (no minimum size).
- Maximum print size is 16"x20".
- Prints must be mounted on RIGID stock (e.g., mount board or foamcore). Heavy materials such as Masonite or Lucite are not acceptable. No loose prints will be accepted. Minimum mount size is 8"x10". Maximum mount size is 16"x20". Window matt(s) are optional.
- No glass or plastic covering or frames are allowed.
- Prints not in accordance with the above will be disqualified.
Fees
- The entry fee is $2.00 per print.
- Each entrant may submit a total of eight (8) prints.
- Prints which do not comply with the required print specifications will be disqualified and will not be judged. No refund will be made for disqualified prints.

- Prints, entry forms and entry fees must be submitted together.

Intellectual Property Rights
- The entrant grants to the Nevada Camera Club the right to display submitted prints during the gallery exhibition period. All other rights remain with the entrant.
Judging
- Prints are judged by a panel of three photographic judges.
- Judges have the right to re-categorize prints.
- The decision of the judges is final.
Exhibition
- Prints are exhibited at the Lloyd D. George United States Courthouse beginning November 16, 2009.
- The public is invited and admission is free.
- The exhibition continues through January 4, 2010.

Return of Prints
- Prints must be picked up at the January 8, 2010 Nevada Camera Club meeting between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM or by previous arrangement. Prints not picked up within 90 days become the property of Nevada Camera Club. Under no circumstances may prints be removed from the exhibit during the exhibition.
